Kawua Island.

Next week there is going to be a year six camp at Kawua Island. It is going to be amazing. My favourite part that is coming up is sleeping in the cabins with my friends. I am looking forward to going camp because I have never been on a island for camp before only at school. Some of the activities are kayak, swimming, Burma trial, sports, adventure playground. The camp is at Kawua island.

 1. Which cove or harbour is Camp Benzon  in? North Cove



2. Copy an image of Kawau Island (a map)  showing the cove or harbour our camp is in.  

3. How many kilometres from the mainland is Kawau Island?  8.45kms

4. Where do you catch the ferry from (what town) to get to Kawau? Spitsand


5. List 6 activities you can do at camp. Sports, walking, swimming, rock climbing, adventure playground.

6. Find out (google) what a ‘burma trail’ is. Optical courses.


7. Find images of 5 native birds common to Kawau island and label them. Wekas, oyster catches, swallows, fantails king fishes.

8. How many kayaks are there? 26 kayaks.

9. Look at the images in the photo gallery and copy in one picture you are excited about.

10. What is the main (most predominant) native tree on Kawau White flowery manuka.
